Over the years my favorite gift was the Mulan soundtrack. On the soundtrack is a song called Reflections (originally sung by Christiana Aguilera). The chorus of the song is “Who is this girl I see? Staring straight back at me. When will my reflections show who I am inside?” In the song and throughout the movie Mulan is on a path of self-discovery while learning about herself through repeated family history. This section has been titled Reflection because it represents the reflections of myself that I cherish the most. My family is my world. They each represent the varying versions and parts of myself. Like Mulan I am on journey of self-discovery, including confronting pasts experiences, embracing generational events and knowing who is Jamila.
