Occupy

oc·cu·py /ˈäkyəˌpī/ (verb) : take control of; fill or take up (a space or time).
During my lunch break I came across some skateboarders & I was fascinated to see black skateboarders.
Why?
As black people we are always reminded of the spaces that we are not allowed to occupy – especially those that have been colonized. When we do occupy colonized spaces we are criticized as being “white”, “selling -out”, “acting white”, or an “UhOh Oreo”. When in reality we are being who we were called to be.
This is a reminder that the spaces we occupy are for us, by us.
So TAKE UP Space.
